Naturopathic physicians receive rigorous professional, academic and clinical training that allows them to blend the rigors of science with the inherent wisdom of nature. State licensure laws require a resident graduate course of at least four academic years from an accredited naturopathic medical school. After earning the doctor of naturopathic medicine (N.D. or NMD) degree, qualified licensees must also pass board exams. Naturopathic physicians maintain private practices but also work in clinics, hospitals, and community health centers.
